Our Purpose
CommunityProducers.com is an online platform featuring original, non-commercial, locally produced video & audio programs - including documentaries, news briefs, short movies and other digital projects. Many of these programs were created by community producers especially for local public, education and government (PEG) access television stations in communities throughout the country.
Our main objective is to promote community access television by making it possible for:
- Community Producers to increase their viewing audience via the Internet & cable TV.
- Community Access Centers to identify & download quality programming to air on their stations.
- Community Residents to become inspired to create their own community programs.
In a nutshell, CommunityProducers.com presents a collection of digital projects created by Community Producers everywhere who are interested in sharing them with other Community Producers and Community Access cable television stations all over the country. Most of the Community Producers who add their projects to the collection encourage Public, Educational & Government (PEG) cable TV channels to download and cablecast their programs. These programs are clearly identified with the "PEG Use: Yes" label.
Our Logo, created by Community Producer Jason Oaks (Knoxville, TN), features the image of a tree trunk with a twig. Like a twig on a young tree, communication is essential to the growth and strength of a society. Community Producers use digital media to communicate stories and other art forms. The "rings" on our tree trunk represent the many diverse communities that contribute projects to the Community Producers' collection. The "leaves" on the twig represent the actual projects submitted from public, educational, and government producers in communities everywhere.
