About
CommunityProducers.com is an online platform featuring original, non-commercial, locally produced video & audio programs - including documentaries, news briefs, short movies and other digital projects. Many of these programs were created by community producers especially for local public, education and government (PEG) access television stations in communities throughout the country.
Most of the producers who have added their programs to the collection invite PEG cable TV channels to download and cablecast them for free. These programs are clearly identified with the "PEG Use: Yes" label. Although all of the programs can be accessed through the site on demand, the original digital files (for downloading) reside at other third party video sharing web sites. We encourage Community Producers to use free third party video sharing web sites like Archive.org, but there are other options.
The main objective of the web site is to promote & preserve community access TV by making it possible for:
- Community Producers to expand their viewing audience via the Internet & additional PEG stations.
- Community PEG Channels to identify, download and cablecast quality local programming to meet new franchise requirements.
- Community Residents who are not current producers to become inspired to create their own community programs.
While the foundation of our collection is comprised of programs that may have been created for PEG television stations around the country, we welcome programs created by other community producers who are not necessarily associated with a community access television station.
We are confident that in the years to come Community Producers and Community Access Centers will contribute an enormous amount of content that is interesting, informative and entertaining. We are confident that our collection will also inspire others to become more involved in their own communities and produce their own digital content to share through the site.
